Wellington Women in Business Founders Recognized with Community Award

Maz Vincent and Zoe Old, the founders of the Wellington Women in Business group, have received the esteemed Community Award from the Wellington Town Council. Although they couldn’t be present at the official award ceremony last month, they were able to collect their awards recently at the council’s offices located on Fore Street.

Town Clerk Dave Farrow expressed his admiration for Vincent and Old, highlighting their steadfast commitment to uplifting local women in business. “Marion Vincent and Zoe Old have shown remarkable dedication to empowering women within the community. Their enthusiasm goes beyond simply fostering business initiatives; they are equally invested in enhancing mental health and well-being among local women. Their relentless efforts and dedication warrant this recognition,” Farrow remarked.

The Wellington Women in Business group, established by Vincent and Old, serves as a crucial resource for local women entrepreneurs. The group not only nurtures strong business relationships but also cultivates a welcoming environment where women can connect, exchange experiences, and offer each other support both professionally and socially. Their initiatives have left a lasting imprint on the community, advocating for local businesses and encouraging community engagement through various events and social gatherings.

This recognition has led to a flurry of congratulatory messages on social media from those who admire their work. One commenter noted, “Great to be acknowledged for your contributions,” while another chimed in, “Fabulously fabulous ladies. You both deserve this—well done.”

The Wellington Town Council’s annual awards, which were initially presented on August 5, also acknowledged other significant contributors to the community. The Youth Award went to Alex Potter, the Civic Award to Dave Mitton, and the Business Award to Odette’s Tearoom.

Vincent and Old’s receipt of the Community Award underscores the remarkable influence they have had in supporting women in business and enhancing the local community through their dedicated efforts.
